Flying things and Filming things
The Juniors learnt about the principles of aerodynamics (well, how to throw paper planes anyhow) and then found a use for excess hot air by using it to propel a balloon — one we’d prepared earlier — up into the sky and out onto the road. Meanwhile the seniors, more serious-minded of course, were learning the principles of film-making. Which was a perfect excuse to watch clips from David Lean’s Great Expectations, Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings, and some vintage Dr Who!
